That’s a crazy glitch; looks like a slit camera image. What happened?
the glitch was done on purpose but the resultant distortion was utterly unpredictable. the original photograph was one i took as a child but otherwise i can’t remember that moment at all. by scanning and then corrupting the image i was attempting to explore ideas of memory degradation and decay.
Fascinating concept, I have heard of this idea with audio files. This is the first time I have seen it with visual media. You have a very intriguing blog.
yes i was inspired by the musical techniques. but there are several visual methods out there too. i’ve used this simple one in a series of attempts to experiment with the concept of memory. I like not being in control of what’s going to happen.
